Since Hollywood is always ahead of the curve, we asked celebrity nail guru Deborah Lippmann (clients include Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, and Mariah Carey) to share which colors are the most requested right now.

DARK GREY

No surprise here, stars are going dark as the weather gets colder. But instead of the traditional deep burgundies and navy blues, Deborah says this year it’s all about dark gray. And it’s not just A-listers going gaga for the granite hue. “The moment I knew it was hot was during fashion week, when all the supermodels were trying to grab the bottles of gray and put it in their purse!”

HOLIDAY HUES WITH A TWIST

What’s the new black? “Dark, moody forest green shades are super popular!” Deborah raves. The edgy pine-tree color is as trendy as another classic holiday shade. “Red is everywhere,” says Deborah. But stars aren’t just wearing the traditional fire-truck version this year. Instead, Deborah suggests asking for “deep berry-red cream colors.”

METALLIC GLITTER

“As we get closer to the holidays, metallic glitters always become more popular,” says Deborah. And this year, it’s all about layering the shimmer. “Combining color under sparkles is super cool, funky, and edgy,” she says. “The fun thing about layering is that you’re creating your own color. Let your creativity come out—you can’t make a mistake!”
