إلوثيرا Eleuthera هي واحدة من عدة الجزر التي تقع ضمن أرخبيل في جزر البهاما، نحو 80 كيلومتر إلى الشرق من العاصمة ناساو Nassau، يبلغ طول هذا الحد الفاصل حوالي 180 كم و بعرض حوالي 1.6 كم في بعض الأماكن. في الصور التالية ستشاهد المياه الضحلة الزرقاء للبحر الكاريبي على إحدى جانبي الجزيرة و في الجانب الآخر مياه المحيط الأطلسي ذو اللون الأزرق الغامق الذي يصل أعماقه إلى آلاف الأقدام، مشهد غاية في التباين.

Katy Perry’s lashes in a box

Katy Perry may be known for many things -- over the top ensembles, cleavage, and kissing girls and liking it -- but just as notable are the big, bold, thick eyelashes that she is rarely seen without. This is why it comes as no surprise that she’s partnered with faux lash brand Eylure to create a line of cute, fun, and wearable lash styles that everyone can get behind.
We put Oh, My! and Sweetie Pie to the test– two lash styles at opposite ends of the spectrum.

 

Oh, My! is a big, bold, stacked style featuring two thick rows of lashes on each strip. We love this concept. After a wild night out wearing several pairs of individual falsies at once, we’ve spent countless mornings prying them apart, and Oh, My! comes as a large relief. One piece of advice: the band on this style of falsie is thick and stiff, so don’t hesitate to trim it down using the included care leaflet to avoid eye irritation.

 

Sweetie Pie, on the other hand, comes across as a barely-there lash boost with a natural look and feel. Trimming our lash strips is usually a must, but Sweetie Pie is so thin and flexible it fit perfectly across our lash line and felt comfortable all day.

 

Eylure’s Katy Perry lashes come packaged in cute, colorful boxes, and each pair includes a vial of swab-on lash glue (we won’t miss the rubbery mini glue tubes that generally come with our lashes), and an adorable sticker of the lash style name. Oh, My is right!
We’re still trying to figure out if the choppy-banged model on the front of the box is indeed Katy Perry. Regardless, we’re happy with our Katy Perry lashes which make us look Wide Awake, and feel like Teenage Dream!

Grab your old books, stack them up high, and get ready for a cardio blasting whirlwind of a routine!!

Whether you’re in high school or college, lugging text books around school is par for the course. Although they are filled with useful knowledge, the weight of those books can really weigh you down! I still own many of my college textbooks as they sit nice and pretty on my shelf. Even though I don’t use them in the traditional sense anymore, I still have found a way to make them… useful. So grab your old books, stack them up high, and get ready for a cardio blasting whirlwind of a routine.

PUSH UP AND OVER

 

Start in a plank position, with arms set wider than your shoulders. One hand is on the floor and one hand is on top of the text books. Perform one full push up by bending your elbows out to the side, lowering your body towards the ground. Then push yourself back to starting position. Inhale on the way down, and exhale on the way up. Climb your way up and over the books to the other side, and perform the same push up on other side. Then climb your way over to the other side and start again. Continue this as fast as you can for a total of 1 minute or at least 10 pushups each side.

SQUAT LIFT

 

Start by holding the books in your hands and stand hip width apart, toes pointing forward.
Inhale, as you sit back into a squat, as though you are sitting back into a chair, and keep energy in your heels. Get as low as possible while keeping your chest up and open.
*Watch that your knees never go over your toes. You should always be able to see your toes. Hold for one second. Keep your core engaged. Exhale, push into your heels and as you stand lift the books above your head. Immediately sit back down into your squat and repeat for a total of 1 minute.

JUMP UP AND OVER

 

Standing on one side of your stacked text books, feet slightly separated, bend the knees.
Leap into the air, up and over the books. Back and forth. Try to land as softly as possible. Try to get as high as possible. Keep core engaged. Continue jumping for a total of 1 minute.

TOE TAP

 

This move is hard depending on the how many books you have stacked. The higher the stack, the harder it is. Stand behind the stacked textbooks and place the right ball of your foot on top of the books. Begin jumping, switching feet as fast as possible. Try to keep the books still. Stay light on your feet. Keep core engaged. Go as fast as you can for 1 minute.

SQUAT WITH TORSO TWIST

 

Start standing with your feet wider than your hips and toes pointed forward. Hold the books in your hands. On an inhale, begin a squat, sitting as low as possible and bringing the books to the outside of your left foot. Keep your chest open. On an exhale, push into your heels and stand up while rotating the torso. You rotate by twisting the waistline, bringing the books go forward and up over your right shoulder. Try to keep your arms straight and core engaged. Return back down into your squat bringing the books to the outside of your left foot. Repeat this for 1 minute.

If I can return it, why am I getting an evil glare?

I’ve gotten the evil eye before, too. Returns may affect a counter’s goals for the day, but that is never a reason why a beauty advisor should treat you in a hostile manner. A beauty advisor shouldn’t make you feel bad. If it’s unbearable, get help from someone else.

 

Isn’t that yucky if I’ve used it?

Used products never go back on the shelves. They should be marked as “damaged” right away, so you don’t have to worry about someone else repurchasing your items. “Damaged” items are discarded separately from the normal trash. Normally, they are sent back to the manufacturers to be discarded properly because of the materials (like bottles) are considered hazardous waste.

What if it’s half-used?

A used bottle is perfectly acceptable to return; an empty one is not. Since some products can require two to three weeks to be effective, it’s actually quite normal for people to realize they’re having a reaction a little bit later.

 

What if I hurt my beauty advisor’s feelings?

You might feel a bit guilty when returning products, especially if an advisor spent significant time helping you. Try explaining why you don’t like a product or why you’re returning it. Your artist might be able to give you some insight as to why you’re not having the best results, and could suggest an item more suited to your needs. More interaction will benefit you because you gain knowledge and you can both consider this return as more of an exchange of information.

 

Can I return it without a box or receipt?

Every counter is different. Some allow a full refund without a box or receipt so long as it was purchased on a credit/debit card. Others will only allow store credit, so check with your local counter to be sure. It’s always best to keep all makeup receipts and boxes for at least two weeks—just in case. You can try creating a file with all your makeup purchases, and some stores now email receipts for your convenience.

One shortcut being bandied about these days is the concept of duplicates—or “dupes” for short. The idea is that most high-end products have a secret, lower-priced doppelganger, and that the perfect match is just a matter of finding a similar shade or list of ingredients.
It’s absolutely true that some high-end formulas are overpriced and over-hyped, and that solid, well-performing alternatives can be found in your local CVS. Here are some helpful points to serve as a guide when searching for your dupe. Think of what matters to you most.

Pigment

 

Let’s say you’ve found a “dupe” of your favorite shade of Make Up For Ever lipstick. The color seems the same, the tube size is comparable, and you can’t beat the price. Before you get too excited, swipe that steal on your hand and check the color up close—brands like Make Up For Ever, MAC, Urban Decay and others are well-known for their luscious pigment, and some lower-priced brands skimp on pigment to cut corners. A higher concentration of pigment means you use less product, which can lead to better value.

 

Longevity

 

You know how a top from Forever 21 sometimes falls apart in the wash, while a more expensive and well-constructed article of clothing stands the test of time? The same can often go for makeup. Does that duplicate wear as well as its luxury parent, or will you have to reapply more often to maintain the look you want? Department store brands often wear better and longer since the testing on them is more extensive and the ingredients more refined. Also, the cheaper version may not keep as well as the more expensive brand, because the latter uses better ingredients and more attention to packaging (like airtight containers, better pumps, and sturdier clasps).

 

Ingredients

 

They say you get what you pay for—and this is often doubly true for cosmetics. Skin-friendly ingredients simply cost more money—and why skimp when it comes to your face? This is particularly true for skincare and face products, which often have high-quality ingredients in higher concentrations than their drugstore counterparts. And the nice thing about purchasing high-end products is that you can return them if you have an allergic reaction. Almost every counter or store will accept returns and work with you to find a better match, whereas only a handful of drugstores offer this option. And who among us hasn’t shrugged at a cheap mispurchase and figured they’d just cut their losses? After all, it wasn’t that much money anyway, right?
