Pastel eye shadow sets to flatter every skin tone
The best looks for Spring are always clean, light, and bright, so it’s no wonder we’ve been drooling over the new eyeshadow palettes from Shu Uemura’s Unmasked line.
Packaged in a criminally cute case, the three palettes have been released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the makeup brand. That’s 10 years of Japanese cosmetics expertise packed into each adorable box.
Did we mention the box design was cute? With its sleek white design and masquerade-themed illustration, we are finding as many excuses as possible to pull this baby out for touch ups on a sunny afternoon. Available in pink, green, or blue-based colors, the shades offer something for every skin tone.
The pink palette is the warmest set of the three and includes a peach, a bold rose, a light brown, dark brown, and a sunny cream-toned shadow that can be blended for both daytime and evening looks. The peach shade could double as blush.
The green palette contains the same cream-colored base shadow with the addition of a yellow-toned mint, a bright, grassy green, a medium-toned brown for shading, and a pastel yellow for highlights. Yellow is a major player in the undertone of this set, but the wearability of the light colors makes it neutral enough to suit a variety of skin tones.
In the blue palette, we find the cream-colored base shade followed by a smaller version of the yellow included in the green palette, a pretty sky blue, a brighter turquoise, and a lilac-grey highlighting shade. The boldest of the three, this set also works as the cool-toned palette in the line, though the yellow shades help to warm it up around the edges.
The matte pastel shades glide on smooth with great color payoff. No matter which combination of colors we tried, the finished look was undeniably “Spring.” What’s more, each shadow pan is refillable via a slide-out drawer on the left side of each box! If you aren’t crazy about a particular shade, you can pop it out and replace it with one of Shu Uemura’s shadow refills. You know we love a customizable palette.
For accenting our featured eye looks, we used the Shu Uemura limited edition drawing pencil in Pearly Gold (also available in white), and the drawing lip pencil in Nude Beige, which can also be used as a brightening eye liner.
