Holiday makeup looks are as diverse the spelling variations of “Hannukah.” When makeup tutorials preach Christmas bow eyes, merry manicures, and glittered lips, what do you choose if you want to dress up your makeup with a subtle holiday twist—not a nod to the North Pole? Some of us tend to be a “stick to the season” bunch, but others prefer a simple makeup with classic hoilday fallbacks. In comes Chanel with their 2012 holiday collection, a subtle yet rich color palette filled with delicate gem tones and softer shades of pink.
The 10-piece collection includes Harmonie du Soir, a violet/gold/ballet pink/taupe bronze eye shadow quad, Star Dust, a stellar pink blush, Reverie, a golden beige loose powder, three pink to burgundy Glossimers, and Malice, an inked out ruby lacquer. The other three of the bunch stood out to us. Nuit-Claire, a rose-beige/black shadow duo, doesn’t exactly scream “Happy Festivus,” but we can assure you the sleeper hit is the classic pairing you need for any basic holiday eye. Try building the black as a base with Apparance on lids, a gold long-wearing cream shadow and the ultimate shining star of the collection. And on lips, keep things dark with this year’s biggest beauty trend and try L’impatiente, a matte, featherweight burgundy-black.
