GRAMMY AWARDS 2013 BEAUTY RECAP

Last week the Who’s Who of the music industry got together to celebrate the best sounds of the year. People sang, awards were distributed, tears were shed. But any girl knows what’s really important about awards shows— the hair and makeup! Here are our top 6 faves from the evening.
Rihanna looked more glamorous than we’d ever seen her in a red Azzedine Alaïa gown. She coordinated her warm red lipstick perfectly to her dress, while complementing her bright lips with a warm copper smokey eye. And can we talk about her hair? Her long wavy ombre locks (the look isn’t over yet!) looked old-Hollywood and fresh. Gorgeous.
The 2 Broke Girls star looked absolutely stunning in her sparkly asymmetrical minidress (hell yes to those curves). She was rocking the vampy lipstick trend we still can’t get enough of, with a dark wine that showed off her enviable pout to perfection. She kept the eyes simple with a very on-trend thick cat eye. The look could have gone goth on her porcelain skin and dark waves, but her glittery dress kept it fun.
Grammy darling Adele didn’t disappoint, with a sixties-inspired Valentino flower print dress in a retro fifties shape. Fittingly, her makeup was mod-chic, with a flattering pink lip, her trademark bombshell cat eye, bright shimmery shadow, and falsies long enough to fan the entire room. In keeping with the retro vibe, she sported a tousled beehive. The woman can just do no wrong.
Florence and the Machines lead singer Florence (duh) looked edgy-cool with her emerald green custom-made Givenchy gown that complemented her enviable red hair. It’s tempting to go for a red lip with a green dress, but Florence chose a deep burgundy shade that was offset by soft, smudgy brown shadow on the eyes. We thought she looked every bit the indie queen.
This was Beyonce’s year, with a superstar Super Bowl performance and a Best Traditional R&B Performance win. Her geometric black and white pantsuit showed her trademark curves to perfection, and a bright primary-red lip and black liner suited the look perfectly. My favorite part, though, was, well, her part! She was also sporting the ubiquitous middle part with on-trend undone roots and a slick, long ponytail.
Katy told Ryan Seacrest she was channeling Priscilla Presley this year, in a skintight seafoam green dress that hugged her frame to perfection. There was no crazy candy-colored wig this year, just striking long black hair parted in the center (very 70s and super in right now). She kept her makeup true to period with a muted beige eye, thick winged liner, and nude lips. She also gave a shout-out to her new line of false lashes while she was presenting— hey, what better time to plug, right?
We can definitely conclude that cat eye winged black liner is here to stay, red lipstick is never a bad move, and the middle part is gonna be huge this season. But what were your favorite looks of the evening? Will you be stealing any of these for yourself?
