Renowned Japanese studio Nendo has recently completed a new store for Spanish Shoe brand Camper in New York. Following the same “shoes that walk freely through the air” concept used to realized other Camper’s shops around the world, the Japanese designer has covered with a thousand white shoes the whole space retail.
“Our new approach involves making models of the Pelotas shoes and decorating the walls with them to fill the space and create the feel of an orderly stockroom” says Nendo.
“The shoes catch light pouring through the windows to cast shadows on the walls, giving the space a three-dimensional texture,” explain the designers. “We’ve created a shop interior with two types of shoes: products and interior materials.”
More shoes are displayed on white platforms in the centre of the store, while recessed openings house the brand’s sock and bag collections.
