Royal Baby Boy Is Here! See the Easel Set Up Outside Buckingham Palace with the Official Announcement

The royal baby boy has been born!
After months of eagerly waiting for the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William's first child, third in line for the throne, Kensington Palace has announced that the couple welcomed a son today.
The palace announced that it was making a last-minute change to the birth announcement plans. Instead of sharing the news of the arrival on an easel by a palace aide—the same easel used when William was born 31 years ago—a formal press release was sent out before the bulletin was posted.

However, when the time came, a large and cheery crowd welcomed the aide who drove to Buckingham Palace with the announcement in hand, first handing it to Queen Elizabeth to read, and then placing it by the gates for the public to read.
The Queen's Press Secretary and a footman posted the official announcement of the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby in Buckingham Palace forecourt.
It read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. The baby weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
The announcement had the official Buckingham Palace heading and the signatures of the medical staff who helped deliver the newborn.
Interestingly enough, the time was the only piece of information that was handwritten, which may suggest that the royal couple knew they were having a boy prior to the actual birth.
Kate and Wills have yet to release their son's name, but he will be addressed as the Prince of Cambridge, a title that has not been used in over 190 years.
Middleton arrived at the hospital at 6 a.m. local time after going into labor. She was joined by her hubby, who was by her side for every step of the way. The two entered the hospital through a side door and were driven from Kensington Palace via a two-car convoy.
Congratulations to the new parents!
