Beauty Remorse: Shaving Nicks

If you catch yourself with a shaving nick, don't just stick on a piece of toilet paper and call it day! We have a few different techniques to stop the bleeding and speed up the healing process. To avoid future shaving nicks.

HOW TO Stop a shaving nick from bleeding

  • Clean the blood off with cold water and press an ice cube on the cut for one to two minutes. The ice will help constrict the blood vessels and slow down the blood flow. Dab a healing ointment, like Neosporin, on the cut and apply a bandage.
  • Don't have any Neosporin on hand? Apply a small amount of deodorant or antiperspirant with aluminum chloride/chlorohydrate on your finger and gently press down on the cut. It will help shrink blood vessels and slow down the blood flow.
  • Swipe on a layer of Chapstick over the cut to stop the bleeding. Keep in mind, this should only be used on small cuts if you're in a pinch! Bacteria from your lips can be transferred from the Chapstick to your cut, so re-wash the wound and apply Neosporin for optimal healing.
