How to Apply Cluster Lashes

No matter the occasion (date? girls’ night? office soiree?), false lashes add a wow factor to your face, making your eyes look gorgeous and huge. Strips have diva flair, but for a more natural style, individuals are the go-to. But what if you're not ready to make the switch? Lash clusters are a great in-between option.
Why try cluster lashes?
Applying individual eyelashes is a very intricate procedure. For every eyelash you have, one false extension is applied with an adhesive. Clusters give you a fun, party-like effect and are quicker and easier to apply but not as obviously fake as strips. Or apply just a few to fill in sparse areas.
How do you apply cluster lashes?
First pick up one lash cluster. It's easiest to use tweezers—some prefer slanted tweezers and others like needle-nose tweezers, it's up to you. Dip the base of the cluster into the adhesive and apply anywhere on the lash line. Be sure to apply each cluster close together to give the appearance of thicker, fuller, longer lashes. Or for a winged effect, add a few clusters just to the outer corner.
What are the most common application mistakes?
Using oil-based products or washing your face (even with water!) within the first 24 hours after application. On the other hand, if you are wearing the clusters for just one night, applying olive oil along the lash line will help gently remove them. Another mistake is fiddling with the lashes while the glue is setting. Most adhesives look white at first but turn clear when they are dry. So don't worry about the white residue—it will disappear when the lashes are ready. Fussing with the lashes is what creates a mess. Also, be sure to clean your eye area completely (mascara especially!) before applying the lashes. This will ensure the glue will hold.
How many clusters should you apply?
It depends on how large your eyes are. I would say usually you can apply 10 to 20 clusters in total.
