Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud RIP


Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud, known as Abu Saud relative to the eldest son, (1353 AH / 1934 - 26 Rajab 1433 AH / June 16, 2012), a Saudi prince, he served as Minister of the Interior since 1975, and the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister since October 27, 2011 until his death. Is the twenty third son of the sons of King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-male of his wife Princess share. He was appointed Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia after the death of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, and before that served as the Second Deputy Prime Minister since March 27, 2009 and the Minister of Interior since 1975.

Nayef bin Abdulaziz was said to be suffering from diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis as well as cancer.
In March 2012, he went to Morocco for "private vacation", then to Cleveland for pre-planned medical tests. This news arised some speculation about his health and Saudi succession. He returned to Saudi Arabia after staying in Algeria in April 2012.
However, he again left Saudi Arabia for medical tests on 26 May 2012. Although it was unknown where Prince Nayef was for medical tests, his deputy at the Ministry of Interior and full-brother Prince Ahmed stated in Al Watan on 3 June 2012 that he was "well and in good health...and he will soon return" to Saudi Arabia. It was reported by Arabian Business on 13 June 2012 that Prince Nayef had recently returned to the country and received some visitors at his home.
On 16 June 2012 around 4 pm (GMT +3), Saudi state television reported that Prince Nayef had died.According to Reuters, he died in Geneva. The royal court stated that his funeral will be held on 17 June 2012. Al Arabiya further reported that the prayers will be held in Masjid al-Haram (المسجد الحرام) in Mecca (مكة المكرمة) after Al Maghreb (المغرب) prayer around 6:30 pm (GMT +3).
