Something Blue: A Manicure for the Modern Bride

Classic cream and petal pink are wedding nail staples, but some brides-to-be need a little color on their big day. Our solution? Something blue....on your fingertips! Now, we're not asking you to go brazen with a vibrant sapphire or a deep ultramarine (though we’d highly approve). Instead, we’re envisioning a cloudy, subdued set of blues, perfectly fit for the modern, manicured bride.
CHANEL Exclusive Creation Nail Colour in Sky Line
We had a must-buy-that-polish-now moment when we spotted the fingertips on Chanel’s Spring 2012 catwalk. Pale, pearled blue nails matched the sky-high silhouettes of Karl Lagerfeld's avian-inspired couture collection, and were developed by Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup Peter Philips. Good news for us mere mortals—the exclusive empyrean lacquer, aptly named Sky Line, will be available for purchase come July on chanel.com.
OPI Nail Lacquer in I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! (Spring 2012 Holland Collection)
Designer Angel Sanchez was one of our New York International Bridal Week favorites, outfitting his celestial, frost-bitten models with an atmospheric manicure to match—OPI's I Don't Give a Rotterdam! was his choice. The stunning, steel-tinged periwinkle is universally flattering on every complexion, and gives the right amount of edge (without making too big of a beauty statement) down the aisle.
ESSIE Nail Polish in Who Is The Boss (Spring 2012 Bridal Collection)
For those who prefer the warmer, aquatic side of the wedding color wheel, we're smitten with Essie's nuptial knockout, Who Is The Boss. The subtle, robin's egg blue looks muted and unassuming at first, but dries into the perfect pastel seafoam color. The no-shimmer creme formula is flattering on all nail shapes, and the mix of blue, green, and gray perfectly coordinates with any wedding band.
